Children’s Art Workshop Series at the West Baton Rouge Museum

Port Allen – The West Baton Rouge Museum is pleased to offer two monthly creative children’s workshop. The first session is designed for ages 4-6 and will be held from 10:30 – 11:30 followed by another class for 7-12 year old students from 12-1 pm on the same day. This month’s Children’s Art with Ms. Shauna will be held on Saturday. September 26, 2026.

The September classes are inspired by the current exhibit, Louisiana Through Wild Eyes, a collaborative traveling art exhibit by photographer Dave McNamara and watercolor artist Katherine Klimitas that explores the rich and untamed beauty of Louisiana wildlife. After taking a guided tour through the exhibit, children in both classes will use mixed media and animal photographs to create their own wildlife compositions by embellishing the image and the background with an array of materials including watercolor, fabric, yarn, jewels, oil pastels, and more.

Shauna Landry is a Louisiana native who has over a decade of experience working with children in art. From painting and drawing to instructing young minds how to break complex objects into foundational images, Shauna received an associate degree from New Mexico State University in Early Childhood Education and Formal art instruction from the AHH Ha School of Arts in Colorado and the Young Rembrandts Program. She is currently teaching art at Ascension Christian School while pursuing a bachelor’s degree online from Arizona State University.

This program is offered FREE of charge and takes place on the 4th Saturday of the month, except for alternate dates as needed for holidays and other special events.
