Ralph Slaughter, I was transformative leader whose work helped shape education and economic empowerment in West Baton Rouge Parish. He served as Superintendent of Colored Schools, where he played a critical role in advancing educational opportunities for Black students during segregation. Beyond education, he was a visionary community builder-helping to establish one of the first credit unions in the state of Louisiana, expanding access to financial resources and economic mobility for African American residents. A committed Civil Rights pioneer and advocate for education, his legacy reflects a lifelong dedication to uplifting his community through knowledge, access, and institutional progress.

Total Control is a six-piece cover band based in New Roads, Louisiana known for performing old school R&B, Funk, Zydeco, Southern Soul & more. The band has been entertaining audiences for 20+ years with its unique musicianship from Louisiana to Alabama.
