Port Allen- Join the West Baton Rouge Museum on Friday, November 15, 2024 from 6-8pm for Historical Happy Hour. This month’s Happy Hour will feature Bruce ‘Sunpie” Barnes and his band, The Louisiana Sunspots, in a reception for the exhibition, Haitian Art: The Jacques Bartoli Collection.
Bruce “Sunpie” Barnes is a New Orleans musician, author, naturalist, park ranger with the National Park Service, ethnographic photographer, and actor. “Sunpie” has toured with Paul Simon and Sting, and his music is featured in more than 20 movies and television shows. He and his band, The Louisiana Sunspots have performed at festivals around the world, and at Historical Happy Hour, the group will engage the audience with original and traditional Louisiana Creole music. Their performance will be interwoven with conversation in between songs to compliment the museum’s current exhibit, Haitian Art: The Jacques Bartoli Collection which will be open for tours throughout the evening.
Also available throughout the evening will be an opportunity to explore My French Book Fest, a collaboration with le Consul General de la Nouvelle Orleans and L’Alliance Francaise de la Nouvelle Orleans to purchase children’s literature in French.
