"Historical Happy Hour Featuring Music by Cajun Roots and Refreshments by Raising Canes"

Port Allen- This month's Happy Hour will feature music from the band, Cajun Roots and refreshments from Raising Canes. It will also serve as the opening reception for the upcoming exhibit, The River is the Road: Paintings by George Rodrigue.

Cajun Roots is a Cajun, Creole, and Zydeco band, and they are frequently featured at the West Baton Rouge Museum's annual SugarFest. Band members play the Cajun accordion, fiddle, guitar, bass and drums, while multiple members sing songs in both Louisiana French and English. Additionally, our local Raising Canes will be out serving their famous toast and lemonade, free of charge to all guests. It is sure to be a toe-tapping good time!

The River is the Road: Paintings by George Rodrigue will be open June 16 - October 31, 2023. The exhibition is one installation of a series of exhibitions presented by Wendy Rodrigue and her Life & Legacy Foundation, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the artist's death. During Happy Hour, guest will be invited to come into the museum and tour the gallery spaces where Rodrigue's art will be on view.

This event is FREE and open to the public. The band will be performing on the Juke Joint stage on the grounds of the West Baton Rouge Museum.  All are invited to bring blankets, folding chairs, and refreshments to enjoy at the outdoor performance on the museum grounds.
