West Baton Rouge Museum will host its annual Holiday Open House Sunday, December 5 from 2 - 4 p.m. Celebrate the season with some of our favorite traditional activities that visitors look forward to year after year along with a little extra holiday spice.
This year, we are pleased to host visual and performing artists to add a little extra enrichment. Katherine Klimitas of New Orleans will be in the gallery with her watercolor works currently on display that include an array of Louisiana birds and heartwarming illustrations of different dog breeds. Author, Dee Scallan will delight audiences with her storytelling, and tours of the c. 1830 Aillet House will include tableau performances. Saxophonist and recording artist, Lazarro Nettles will fill the air with a live performance of holiday jazz music guaranteed to warm the heart and soothe the soul, and local groups such as Rockin’ Mozart Music School and the museum’s very own, Blues After School program will also perform.
In addition to being open for tours and a medley of musical entertainment, holiday festivities will include welcoming guests with hot apple cider and gingerbread. Come enjoy making holiday crafts, storytelling, everyone’s favorite campus wide “Find the Elves” scavenger hunt, and shopping for unique gifts and stocking stuffers. Our gift shop and a holiday pop up market will feature wares such as sweet treats, hand-made masks, bows, Christmas stockings, jewelry, and more. The museum will be decorated for the season and will make the perfect backdrop for a visit from Père Noël (perfect for holiday photo ops!)
This program is FREE and open to the public. West Baton Rouge Museum is located at 845 North Jefferson Avenue in Port Allen. For more information, please visit www.westbatonrougeuseum.org or call (225)336-2422 Ext. 200.
