Port Allen- the Consulate General of France in Louisiana, Villa Albertine, and Alliance Francaise of New Orleans invited you to discover the world of children's literature in French, at the third annual My French Book Fest, held at the West Baton Rouge Museum on November 14th, 15th, and 16th, 2024!
Through both its history and culture, Louisiana shares ties with the French language; French in Louisiana is currently supported by a network of 45 French immersion schools, which welcome 5,500 students and 115 teachers from across the world. My French Book Fest was created to promote youth literacy in French; to create connections between authors of youth literature in French and young readers; and to highlight the diversity of French-language literature in the world.
My French Book Fest is a celebration of youth literature in French, and, for the first time ever, a portion of the festival will be held at the West Baton Rouge Museum in Port Allen! On November 14-16, from 10am-4:30pm, the museum will open its doors to the public for events including:
- My French Book Fair
- L'Acadie s'expose, exhibit of the art from the groundbreaking comic strip Capitaine Acadie
- Literary and cartooning workshops
- Concerts featuring traditional Louisiana music
- School field trips in French featuring hands-on activities (morning and afternoon slots available, please call or email to reserve)
Participation is free, but come ready to purchase books at the festival
